Posted By sscc on January 2, 2012
Mary Ann Harper, El Dorado Rose – 2011, has agreed to share her reign with our Center. Each month, Mary Ann will offer us a look at what is happening as a result of her special status.
Sunday, December 4th : The Roses entered their float in the 34th Annual Christmas Parade. The weather was spectacular and the Ladies of the Rose Court were all lovely. Those who were able and willing to participate in this year’s parade followed the theme of “Believe in the Magic” by graciously waving their Magic Wand towards the crowd. The parade lasted from 1:00 to 3:00pm and was a huge success with the spectators. Those riding on the float were, Carol Burnley, Roni Pettibone, Mary Kay Brancheau, Barbara Silva, Normadene Carpenter, Judy Muetz, Sandy Kowalski, Kathy Walter and myself. Jackie Abel once again was the driver of the pick-up that pulled us down main street and back up the freeway where we began.
Thursday, December 8th : Judy, Sandy, Carol, Roni, Normadene, Juanita & I helped with the Ribbon Cutting / Open House Celebration of the Roses dear friend Dottie, owner of Camino Flower Shop on Broadway. She moved across the street on Broadway and one day will make a marvelous Rose.
Tuesday, December 13th : Judy, Sandy & I attended the County Chamber Mixer at Dick’s Carpets. Many Chamber members were there and we had a grand time networking with them. A buffet table had been prepared by Diane Wilkinson and was delicious. I failed at winning any of the wonderful silent auction items.
Friday, December 16th : Judy, Sandy & I attended the Shingle Springs / Cameron Park C of C Mixer at the Millennium Sports Club in Shingle Springs. We began the evening by having our pictures taken on Santa’s lap while Mrs. Clause handed us candy canes. We visited with friends and met brave new business owners. The buffet was provided by Zpies and was healthy, nutritious and delicious. The surprise of the evening was having Supervisor Ray Nutting lead us in Christmas carols. What a marvelous voice he has! I was successful in winning my choice at the silent auction. It is a large photo by Steve Crandell of the Independence Day Parade, July 4th 1886, downtown Placerville.
