The Reign of the Rose – April 2012

Posted By on April 24, 2012

Mary Ann Harper, El Dorado Rose – 2011, has agreed to share her reign with our Center. Each month, Mary Ann will offer us a look at what is happening as a result of her special status.

Monday, April 9th – Along with other ladies in the Rose Court, I attended the very lovely reception held in honor of Sandra Kowalski.  Sandy is running for El Dorado Rose 2012 and was introduced to the community as the Hangtown Granges’ candidate.  Mike Muetz was the Master of Ceremonies and certainly outdid himself.  He has proven to all those who were in attendance that he can “shoot from the hips!”  He was never at a loss for words and seems very comfortable in front of a group of people.

Wednesday, April 18th – Attended a committee meeting of the Adopt-a-spot at the county fairgrounds.  We met with a landscape designer who is going to assist with the selection of plants, pathways and seating areas of the Roses’ adopt-a-spot.

Attended the regular monthly meeting of the Rose Court in the boardroom of the El Dorado County Fair Board.

Attended a very lovely reception held in honor of 2012 Rose candidate, Claudia Bethke, who is being sponsored by Gold Country Retirement Community.  Many past Roses and members of the Rose Court attended along with many residents of the Gold Country Community

Thursday, April 19th – Judy, Sandy and I attended the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at Kniesel’s Collision Center of Shingle Springs located on Wild Chaparral Drive, S.S.  What a wonderful business this will add to the community!  They are to be commended for their perseverance in retrofitting the building from a huge gymnasium to the state of the art business it is today.  This is their second location.  The original Kniesel’s is in Auburn.

In the evening, the three of us attended the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at Ava Jade Salon & Spa in Diamond Springs.  This is another wonderful business located in a beautiful new building.

Saturday, April 21st – Attended 2012 Rose Candidate Rose Mary Lewis’ reception held at the American Legion Post 119.  Rose Mary is being sponsored by American Legion Riders Chapter 119 and the Food Bank of El Dorado County
